Ruby & Jack’s Doggy Shack is currently seeking to fill the following positions with exceptional candidates, all of whom must be 100% enthusiastic and dedicated to animal well-being:


Pet Parent Welcoming Committee

The Pet Parent Welcoming Committee is the face of Ruby & Jack’s – greeting pets and pet parents alike with a smile and readiness to help.  This is a position with a lot of responsibility and multi-tasking, as you will be the keeper of the booking schedule, as well as the primary link between parents and their pets.  A love for animals, along with excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and computer skills are a must.  Responsibilities include signing up new clients, checking pets in/out, overseeing the Play Care Counselors, and communicating with clients directly and through social media.


Play Care Counselor

Play Care Counselors work directly with the dogs in our care by supervising play sessions, assisting with feeding and medications, and, of course, providing love and attention to all of our canine guests.  Play Care Counselors are also responsible for changing our feline guests’ litter, making sure they have their food and water, and of course – giving them special attention. This is an entry-level position for animal lovers, with lots of room for advancement.


Slumber Care Counselor

Slumber Care Counselors oversee the canine and feline guests that stay with us overnight.  Responsibilities include regular monitoring to ensure animal safety and comfort, and nightly cleaning and maintenance.  All candidates must be passionate about pets, highly self-motivated, trustworthy and able to work independently.


Dog Walker & Cat Sitter

Reliable individuals who love being outdoors with canine company are ideal candidates for Dog Walkers.  Walkers pick up no more than three dogs from their homes and escort them on a neighborhood outing with safety always in mind.  Dog Walkers also perform Puppy Sitting duties.  You must love dogs, have previous walking experience, be dependable, able to follow instructions well without supervision, have strong communication skills and be willing to work in all weather conditions.  In addition, you must be trustworthy and respectful of the client’s home and pets.  Dog Walkers are also responsible for Cat Sitting duties, so comfort and familiarity and comfort around cats is mandatory.



Bather responsibilities include providing baths for dogs and cats, performing a la carte grooming services and assisting the groomers.  Candidates must have a fondness for dogs and cats, and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience.



Groomer candidates must be able to perform customary grooming services for dogs and cats in a safe, gentle and efficient manner, and with lots of love.  Positions are open to skilled, professional groomers with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.  Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills are required to be able to effectively communicate with pet parents.  Manhattan grooming experience is a big plus.


Transportation Counselors 

Transportation Counselors brave the busy streets of NYC carrying precious cargo: our clients’ dogs and cats.  Candidates must be trustworthy animal lovers who are dependable and safety-minded, and have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.


Dog Trainer

Trainer positions are open to highly skilled CPDT-certified Dog Trainers who use a positive reinforcement approach in both group classes and individual settings.  Candidates must have the ability to instruct a variety of classes for both puppies and adult dogs, including puppy socialization, basic/intermediate/advanced obedience, tricks and agility.  Trainers must also be able to work on a wide range of behavioral issues in individual training sessions.  Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are required to be able to effectively communicate with pet parents.
